Henkel Indonesia inaugurates Southeast Asia Regional Innovation Center

Henkel Indonesia has officially unveiled its Southeast Asia Regional Innovation Center in Bintaro, South Tangerang on January 18. This is the first establishment for the adhesive industry in Southeast Asia and it is part of Henkel’s strategies to put together the company’s technical prowess and innovations from the regional level under one roof in further adding value to its customers.

The facility was ceated to provide innovation and best solutions for the market in terms of adhesive, sealant and functional coating in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The Innovation Center is already prepared to partner with customers in developing innovative applications to Henkel’s products in order to increase productivity and the reliability of its customer’s production facilities.

The innovation center is connected globally to Henkel’s experts. With 6,500 specialists available through the center, Henkel Adhesive Technologies is able to supply specific and high-impact solutions to the company’s over 130,000 customers. In 2016, Henkel has invested about 287 million euro or more than 600 billion rupiah to its research and development activities throughout the world.

“This innovation center underlines Henkel’s committment to empower our customers and partners in providing innovations for the emerging markets. Southeast Asia is very important region for us, and Indonesia is key to growth in the region,” said Csaba Szendrei, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Packaging and Consumer Goods Adhesives at Henkel Adhesive Technologies.

The 1,300sqm innovation center is equipped with an interactive experience zone for customers, as well as with a wide industrial space to test and conduct simulations. The facility is also equipped with six application laboratories. Furthermore, Henkel has provided a training academy where customers can gain in-depth technical skills and gain direct trainings on various topics such as applications and analytical techniques, technical problem solving, and best practices in safe and sustainable work environment. Among Henkel’s targeted industires are automotives, consumer goods, furniture, food and beverage, packaging, footwear and other general industries.

The center further demonstrated Indonesia’s importance to the company’s portfolio as the largest economy in Southeast Asia. Having first entered the market in 1974, Henkel Indonesia has been a leader in the adhesive industry with various products and applications used in various Indonesian industries. This long-term commitment became a strong platform in regards to the decision of establishing the Innovation Center that can serve customers both in the local and regional levels.

Bintaro was chosen as the location for the company’s main office and innovation center due to its ease of access from the main road, the airport and henkel’s long-time customers in Tangerang, Jakarta, Bekasi and industrial zone in Karawang.
