German-Indonesian Business Delegation: Water Treatment Technology Solutions, 24-28 March 2019

Indonesia is facing various challenges within the water sector. Regarding the municipal sector, solutions for the treatment of wastewater are urgently needed. The existing sewage treatment plants are heavily overloaded and the majority of Indonesia’s wastewater is not being treated. In addition, large cities such as Jakarta and Semarang are sinking up to 25 cm annually, due to the uncontrolled extraction of groundwater. As a result of the poor water quality, the market for drinking water also represents a promising market.

Biomass Utilization: Sustainable Energy Solutions from Residues from the Agricultural and Food-producing industry, 9-11 April 2019

Indonesia’s potential for Biomass and Biogas electricity is very promising. The country is the largest palm oil producer in the world, the third largest rice and the eighth largest sugar producer. The theoretical electricity potential from domestic biomass residues is estimated to be 50,000 MW.  Furthermore, Indonesia's ever-growing energy demand and the government's goal of obtaining 23% of its energy from renewable energy sources by 2025, drive the development of renewable energy plants forward. In addition to small biomass plants for the private use, the market for larger commercial plants is starting to develop in Indonesia, opening up a potential operating field for foreign companies.
