Bosch, Viar launches Electric Motorcycle Viar Q1

The environmentally friendly, practical and efficient electric scooter (skutik) is in high demand in Indonesia, particularly in major cities like Jakarta. In answering this demand, PT Triangle Motorindo (TM), the maker of Viar Indonesia, in cooperation with Bosch, has launched the electric scooter, Q1. Aside from being designed to be as practical as possible, buyers will also obtain their vehicle ownership license (STNK) immediately.

“Bosch, as a global technology and service supplier, has had its Bosch e-scooter driving system up and running since 1999, which is then relaunched in 2013, and is finally visible here in Indonesia via the Viar Q1,“ said Amine Kamel, Director Automotive Electronics at Bosch Southeast Asia.

The Viar Q1 is equipped with a maintenance-free, 60V, 20Ah Lithium Ion battery that produces 800 watt worth of power. The Viar Q1 also comes with a 220 input charger, which emits 50Hz of power. The motorcyles needs 5 hour to charge to full, after which it would be able to travel to up to 70km with a speed of 60km per hour.

The E-scooter driving system developed and applied by Bosch in the Viar Q1 electric scooter system is made up of an electronic control unit (ECU) and an e-Motor. Furthermore, the Viar Q1 is a lightweight, weighing only 78.5kg, and sports tube-type, non tubeless, 90/90 wheels. 

PT TM guarantess aftersales services for the battery, dynamo and controller components of the scooter. With a price tag of Rp 16.2 million (on the road), as many as 70 units have been sold. TM aims to sell 500 units per month.

“The Viar Q1 skutik is a form of our committment in supporting the government, which is looking to reduce pollution and to make fuel usage more efficient. This vehicle further aims to assist the government in reducing the impact of global warming, as mandated by Presidential Decree Number 22, 2017,“ said Ignatius Karniman, President Director of TM in Balai Kartini, Jakarta.

 “The Viar Q1 is an innovative product from PT Triangle Motorindo which was developed together with Bosch and Gadjah Mada University [UGM] as the result of our committment and support to the Indonesian government. The availability of an environmentall-friendly electric scooter was also the result of a the support of the Indonesian Ministry of Environment, the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and the National Power Company [PLN],“ Kartiman added.
