JAKARTA – On March 8, 2017, the German Embassy Jakarta, the GOETHE INSTITUT Jakarta and the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID) launched the JERIN (Jerman dan Indonesia) online platform at the German Embassy Jakarta.

The online platform (www.jerin.id) aims to provide a single window for all German activities in Indonesia. Its key features include:

  • Complete Event-Calendar of all German Institutions in Indonesia
  • News from the German Community
  • Updated news on DAAD Scholarships
  • Information about work and study in Germany

The launching was hosted by German Ambassador Michael von Ungern-Sternberg, Director of the GOETHE INSTITUT Jakarta, Dr. Heinrich Blömeke, Director of EKONID, Jan Rönnfeld, as well as representatives from the participating institutions.

His Excellency Ambassador Ungern-Sternberg remarked, “The website aims to inform young Indonesians as well as everyone else interested in Germany-related activities in the areas of politics, economy, culture, education and science, social and others. We hope that this website can be beneficial to them, and that it can also contribute even more to the long-standing relationship between Germany and Indonesia.”

Key Elements

The website features a number of key elements that will help visitors learn more about the various German institutions operating in Indonesia.

One of the main features is the event calendar, which provides an overview of all events held by various German institutions such as the German Embassy Jakarta, the Brücke, the Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (GIZ) and the GOETHE INSTITUT, to name a few. Every event from all participating institutions is displayed in the calendar.

Another important element is a directory of all German institutions. This page lists all the German institutions that are active in Indonesia, including the full profile of their services and activities, as well as their contact details.

Other tools include the DAAD scholarship news feed, an interactive map displaying Germany’s most attractive travel destinations, and entertaining short videos on typical German behavior. Popular German initiatives such as “Make it in Germany” or “Study in” can also be found on the website. These provide in-depth information for foreign workers and students.

On top of that, several lucky draws will be announced. This year’s ultimate prize is a ticket to Germany, which will be made available by the end of this year. Keep visiting the JERIN facebook profile to stay informed at https://www.facebook.com/jermandanindonesia/.

The contents are available in German, English and Bahasa Indonesia. It has been designed to be easily accessible using most kinds of devices.
