SIEMENS Indonesia donates for tsunami and earthquake victims in Central Sulawesi

Siemens Indonesia and its employees have demonstrated their profound concern for the victims of the tsunami and earthquake n Central Sulawesi province of Indonesia. In response, the company held a fundraising campaign, in which Siemens raised more than Rp 863 million in monetary donations to support those affected by the earthquake and its aftermath through the Indonesian Red Cross.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of Central Sulawesi tsunami and earthquake. At Siemens Indonesia, our employees have shown profound solidarity by generously taking part in in the company’s matching donation appeal to ease the suffering of the people in Central Sulawesi,” said Prakash Chandran, President Director and CEO, PT Siemens Indonesia.

The deadly 7.4 magnitude earthquake, which was followed by a tsunami, on September 28, 2018, that struck Central Sulawesi have killed at least 2,100 people, injured more than 10,000 and forced more than 87,000 people away from their to seek safety and shelter.

“We appreciate the generous contribution made by Siemens to the Indonesian Red Cross to ease the suffering of the victims of the natural disasters in Central Sulawesi. This donation will be channeled to help people in the affected areas via first-aid, as well as through medical treatment, the provisions of shelters, clean water and hygiene kits,” stated the Executive Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ginandjar Kartasasmita.

Throughout its global operations, Siemens is committed to giving back to the community as part of its corporate social responsibility. Siemens Indonesia and its employees have also provided equipment and monetary assistances to the victims of the 2004 tsunami in Aceh, the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, the 2009 Padang earthquake, the volcanic eruption of Mount Merapi and the tsunami in Mentawai in 2010, as well as the more recent earthquake in Lombok.
