The German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Indonesia/EKONID) and the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia/APINDO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to continue their long-standing cooperation in promoting trade, investment, and private sector collaboration between Germany and Indonesia.

The MoU was signed by Shinta W. Kamdani, Chairwoman of APINDO, and Jan H. Rönnfeld, Executive Director of EKONID. The signing was witnessed by Peter Adrian, President of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), and Prijono Sugiarto, Chairman of EKONID’s Supervisory Board.

Under the agreement, both organizations have committed to work together in the following areas:

  • Exchange of Information and Business Contacts: EKONID and APINDO will facilitate the sharing of general business-related information and support each other’s outreach through digital platforms and professional networks, within their respective mandates.
  • Policy Dialogue and Advocacy: The two organizations will engage in constructive discussions to identify trade and investment-related challenges and contribute to improving the regulatory framework through joint advocacy efforts.
  • Cooperation Programs and Initiatives: The MoU establishes a basis for organizing joint events, projects, and semi-annual meetings aimed at further developing German-Indonesian economic relations.

Mr. Rönnfeld noted: “This agreement reflects our intention to continue building on a solid foundation of partnership. As we mark 100 years of economic cooperation, we also look ahead to expanding our joint efforts in areas such as innovation, regulation, and skills development.”

Mrs. Kamdani emphasized the relevance of vocational education in the ongoing partnership: “Link and match in vocational education has been driven successfully by the private sector. Astra is a very good example of vocational education that we are all also supporting through APINDO. That’s an area that, I think, will be a continued focus, on learning also, from Germany.”

The signing of this MoU reaffirms EKONID and APINDO’s shared commitment to supporting the development of a competitive and sustainable business environment in both countries.
