On 7 May 2026, AHK Indonesia / EKONID organized a webinar titled “Geothermal Market Opportunities in Indonesia” under the German Energy Solutions Initiative. The webinar was attended by representatives from 17 companies and brought together German and Indonesian organizations to discuss the latest developments, challenges, and collaboration opportunities in Indonesia’s geothermal sector.
The session was opened by Olivia Nathalie Noor from AHK Indonesia, who welcomed participants and introduced the objectives of the program. The webinar also featured an introduction to the German Energy Solutions Initiative and the upcoming Project Exploration Trip program, presented by representatives from RENAC and the German Energy Solutions consortium.
Technical perspectives were also shared by representatives of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, highlighting current challenges and innovations within Indonesia’s geothermal industry. In addition, GIZ Indonesia presented practical observations and experiences from ongoing geothermal-related projects in Indonesia.
A key focus of the webinar was Indonesia’s strong geothermal potential and the increasing opportunities for international cooperation in renewable energy development. Participants received insights into Indonesia’s geothermal business landscape, including current market conditions, investment potential, and sector developments.
The project exploration trip will take place from September 21–25, 2026, in Jakarta. The aim of the trip is to provide German companies with a structured insight into the Indonesian geothermal market, identify concrete project potential, and establish direct contacts with key Indonesian energy stakeholders.
