On August 20 and 21, 2025, the German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Indonesia / EKONID) had the honor of supporting the official visit of German Foreign Minister Dr. Johann Wadephul to Indonesia. The visit underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Germany and Indonesia across the fields of politics, industry, and education.
As part of the first day’s program, a luncheon was held at The Acre in Menteng, Central Jakarta, bringing together the German business delegation and local representatives for informal discussions and networking. This was followed in the afternoon by a high-level roundtable moderated by EKONID Executive Director Jan Roennfeld under the theme “Localization, Regulatory Requirements and Sustainable Transformation – Perspectives of German Industrial Companies in Indonesia.” The session gathered leading German business representatives who shared perspectives on localization, regulatory requirements, and the opportunities arising from the forthcoming EU-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Sustainability and the role of industry in shaping long-term cooperation were also central to the discussion.
The second day of the visit featured a joint program at Poltekkes Jakarta 3, the State Polytechnic for Health Professions, where Foreign Minister Wadephul was received by Indonesia’s Minister of Health, Mr. Budi Gunadi Sadikin. EKONID joined the delegation throughout the program, which highlighted bilateral collaboration in healthcare education and training. Several German companies, including Siemens Healthineers, Beurer, Dräger, Fresenius, and B. Braun, presented their innovations through dedicated booths—demonstrating Germany’s strong commitment to advancing healthcare cooperation and knowledge exchange with Indonesia.
EKONID is grateful for the trust placed in us to support this important visit and remains committed to strengthening German-Indonesian relations while fostering long-term cooperation between the two countries.
