VDMA Delegation to Indonesia – Opportunities in the Mining and Minerals Industry

  • Event

September 13 – 18, 2026 | Jakarta and Kalimantan

News VDMA Mining & Mineral Delegation

Background

Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest economy, is one of the region’s most important mining nations and a key global supplier of mineral resources. The sector contributes 5–6% of GDP and up to 12% of exports, supported by vast reserves of nickel (22% of global supply), coal (450+ million tons annually), and major copper‑gold assets like Grasberg. Demand for coal, nickel, copper, gold, and tin is continuously driven by rapid urbanization, infrastructure expansion, and industrial growth, with strong participation from large state-owned and private mining companies.

This dynamic growth creates strong potential for German machinery and plant manufacturers to deliver tailor-made solutions that enhance efficiency, automation, and digitalization across Indonesia’s mining operations and processing activities.

This delegation offers excellent opportunities for German suppliers of mining technology and plant engineering to share expertise, tap into new markets, and establish long-term strategic partnerships.

Objectives

  • Technology Showcase: Present advanced German mining equipment, plant engineering, and automation technologies to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Sustainable Transformation: Contribute expertise in mineral processing, environmental and safety technologies, and digital solutions to support Indonesia’s shift toward higher-value, more sustainable, and resource-efficient mining practices.
  • Partnership Building: Establish long-term cooperation with Indonesian mining companies, contractors, and distributors while expanding after-sales services, maintenance capabilities, and training networks.

Format

This delegation trip is designed for German companies offering innovative technologies in mining, mineral processing, and plant engineering. It provides a structured platform to explore Indonesia’s dynamic mining sector, gain first-hand market insights, and establish long-term partnerships with key industry players.
