On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, AHK Indonesia/EKONID successfully hosted an Online Introduction Session on EV Battery Recycling, bringing together key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and international technology providers. The session marked an important milestone in the EV Battery Recycling Pilot Project Indonesia, an initiative spearheaded by EKONID and supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
The project, which runs from October 2025 to September 2027, aims to support sustainable solutions across Indonesia’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
The session commenced with welcoming remarks from EKONID, followed by introductory remarks from DIHK Service GmbH’s Chambers for GreenTech. Key insights were then shared by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia and PT Life Cycle Indonesia, addressing the current development of Indonesia’s electric vehicle market and EV battery waste management. The program was further enriched by perspectives from German expertise represented by ECOLOGICON GmbH, highlighting technological approaches and best practices in EV battery recycling.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the EV Battery Recycling Pilot Project, delivered jointly by EKONID as the project coordinator, PT Mukti Mandiri Lestari as the pilot project facility, and Universitas Padjadjaran as the academic partner. The presentation outlined the project’s objectives, implementation framework, and opportunities for German and European technology partnerships to support Indonesia’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, during which participants explored potential cooperation in technology, knowledge exchange, and sustainable solutions for battery recycling.
This initiative marks an important step toward strengthening Indonesian-German collaboration in circular economy solutions and sustainable e-mobility, supporting the responsible management of EV batteries as the market continues to grow.
EKONID extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers, partners, and participants for their valuable presence and contributions. Further collaboration and innovative partnerships are expected to support sustainable and internationally aligned solutions for EV battery recycling in Indonesia.
